Great Grandma

Grandma Emelia was a strong woman who grew up in the twenties. She married early and became a sidewalk farmer with husband. She had three children. 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-step-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-step-grandchildren. We will miss everything about grandma. Her stories of the 20s and 30s, her tough exterior and her kind heart. She was sarcastic and could keep up with all of us. I am going to make a photo frame and etch her name and dates of birth and death and put a photo of her or the picture we took at my wedding. She lived a great life and because of her we are here. Love you grandma.

For the frame I have a type of shadow box frame and can cut out her name and dates with vinyl. Any color will do because you are etching. So I have some scraps lying around that I can use..therefore Im not wasting my vinyl. It will be nice to have this picture in our house.

Remembering those we loved and lost

I am sitting here trying to come up with ideas to share. All of a sudden I am thinking of my grandma who passed away in November.  It has been a hard couple of months with the selling of her home, the drama that comes with family affairs involving money and trying to let her go. Well I can’t let her go. I love her too much. This idea that came to me while I was thinking of what to write.  I have a lot of old vases just sitting in cup boards taking up space. Why not etch my grandmother’s name onto a vase along with the dates of her birth and her passing? I mean, I can pick the fresh flowers and grass to put into the vase for display on my dining room table. I think it is a great idea and something to remember her by. I’ll take some scraps of vinyl I have left over from previous projects and using my Cricut cutter I can cut her name out and use the stencil of the vinyl for the etching of her name.

Shoot! The last of my etching cream has dried up. I’ll have to order more from PrintOnIt.com. I’ll probably pick up some more vinyl, and bags too.  I will post pictures as soon as I am finished with the vase.

Everyone have a great day!

Hello world!

I have been thinking about what to write for a few weeks now. When i was told it was going to be part of my job to blog and do projects I was a little bit shocked. Me?? Why me? Well, I’ve been experimenting with vinyl from www.printonit.com and have had some very creative moments, I must say. They have translucent bags that you can decorate and give to people. You can create any type of gift bag for any occasion. So I did. I made a bag for a bridal shower. I put a silhouette of a very cute pregnant woman with heals on and a cute purse. She looks as though she is enjoying being pregnant and loves to shop. Well, we mothers know it is definitely not a joy to be nine months pregnant, shopping and even holding your own purse when  you can double as the Michelin Man.  :+) But the bag itself makes a mother to be very happy. It made me want to be more creative and give these bags as gifts along with what I choose to put in them.

My son will be one year old in August. I made a bag for the display at work and put balloons, jungle animals, his name, and Happy Birthday on the bag. It turned out very cute and colorful. Although he won’t remember his first birthday party the bag is something I can save for his baby book.

What I’m getting at is if you have the time, patience, tools and creativity you can do these projects. I use a Cricut cutter for the vinyl and I bought the vinyl and bags at www.printonit.com as a pack. Very cool.
